Research Scientist ( Vulnerability Assessment )


Job Description

Description of function responsibilities (Complete description):

Research Scientist will be required to provide OVAL and XCCDF content for vulnerability and patch related content for multiple McAfee Security Products
� Researching localized configurations for Windows, UNIX and Linux platforms
� Determination / development of OVAL checks to properly check for the state the system is in.
� Development of XCCDF Benchmarks
� Development of remediations for correcting vulnerabilities using the Remediation Manager product for automated vulnerability remediation
� Development of Windows, UNIX and Linux Security Policies and Hardening Guides
� Development of Windows, UNIX and Linux Security Configuration checks
� OS Image creation and deployment
� Content created in multiple formats including OVAL, XCCDF, VBScript and Borne Shell.

Experience, Skills & Education Required ( Complete description):
Potential candidates need to be extremely familiar with a variety of concepts, practices, and procedures within the information security field including network security, operating system hardening and performing vulnerability assessments. Candidates need to have extensive system administration experience and/or scripting/development skills with Windows, UNIX and Linux platforms.

Specific skill sets required:
� Programming / Scripting skills a must
� Comprehensive understanding of the Windows registry
� Comprehensive understanding of UNIX / Linux configuration and administration
� Windows system hardening and configuration settings including:
o Local Security Policy
o Group Policy
o Windows Services
o Registry Settings
� Understanding of OVAL / XCCDF / Security automation standards preferred
� Basic SQL skills such as Select statements are strongly desired

College Degree Required. Industry certifications are a plus � i.e. CCNA, MCSE, Security+, GSEC, CISSP, GCWN, etc.
